Plumes of dark smoke are sent into the skyline by a Manhattan rooftop fire.

NEW YORK—On Thursday, columns of dark smoke rose into the skyline of New York City from a fire on the roof of a 44-story luxury apartment building.
 


According to the city fire department, the incident in the Hudson Yards mixed-use complex on the west side of Manhattan was initially reported at approximately 11:30 a.m. Approximately forty minutes later, it was deemed under control.


The fire was responded to by about 80 firefighters. According to a fire department official, no injuries were reported.
